Ultrarunners Like Coffeeneuring, Too: Patti in Delaware

One of the great aspects of coffeeneuring is the people I have the fortune to “meet” via the Coffeeneuring Challenge.

Patti, who is guest-posting today, completed the challenge last year and I’m happy to say she is back again for more bikin’ and coffee drinkin’ in 2013. Here’s what she had to say about her coffeeneuring experiences.

Patti - Coffeeneuring

1) Where do you live?

Newark, Delaware.

2) How did you decide to coffeeneur?

I participated last year and the challenge encouraged me to continue cycling into the winter.

3) What bike are you using as your coffeeneuring bike? What makes it a good coffeeneuring bike?

I only have one bike– a Trek 5000 road bike.

It has seen me through many century rides and lots of cycling vacations, including Bike Virginia (two times); Cycle Oregon (two times); Bike Tour of Colorado (two times); Bike Florida (one time); and Cycle Greater Yellowstone (one time).

4) Where did you choose to coffeeneur for this coffeeneuring trip?

Saturday’s trip followed a rough and hilly 100-mile ride called the Savage Century. The course has over 10,000 feet of elevation. We selected a coffee shop that was relatively close-by (2.5 miles) to follow up our century ride. That was a LONG day!

5) Is the coffee shop beautiful and the coffee delicious? Tell us a little about your coffeeneuring locale.

The coffee shop had actually just closed. Newark was full of folks partying after the University of Delaware’s Homecoming Game. The owner was nice enough to welcome us in and to whip up a couple of delicious frozen mocha lattes.

6) What other types of riding do you do besides coffeeneuring?

My husband is the real cyclist and he rides several times during the week. I am a weekend-only cyclist (unless we’re on vacation).

We spend at least one of our weekend days cycling and try to bike for at least 100 miles. I spend the other weekend day running.

7) What else did I forget to ask you that you want to share?

I completed my very first 100-mile run 6 weeks ago!! 🙂

Whoah, that is awesome! Huge congratulations on your 100-mile ultra! What better recovery activity than the Coffeeneuring Challenge? Also, if you ride a bike you are a real cyclist to me. 🙂

Thank you, Patti, for guest-posting and for participating in the Coffeeneuring Challenge once again!

Patti – a 100 mile run is epic – I gave up marathons after a 6 hour finish in PDX and decided if I was going to be going that long I’d rather be sitting. Now I do rando riding;-)
    Great coffeeneuring.
