More Tandems at Paris-Brest-Paris 2011

After digging through the photos archives, I discovered more tandem shots worth sharing from the last edition of PBP. That is, they are not hopelessly blurry or otherwise terrible. Perhaps you will even recognize some of the randonneurs.

    Love the smiles on so many of these faces! And seeing tandems (and triplets?!) in PBP – wow!

    I’m suddenly, horribly curious – is it necessary to qualify as a team, or can two separate qualified riders decide to go tandem?

      Asher, that is such a good question! I do not think you have to qualify as a team. Two riders who qualify separately could decide to ride tandem. They do have to state on their entry that the type of bike they are going to ride is a tandem.

        Oh, neat! That’s really cool. It’s kind of nice to think that if someone meets a new BFF or fiancé or something on a qualifying brevet, they could potentially tandem up for PBP.

        I suspect that any two people who still like each-other after 1200k on a tandem must have a great relationship and excellent communication skills ^-^

        Either that or their just totally bonkers :). Yes, in my case, I like to think that Ed and I communicate well and have a good sense for how the other rides.
